DESCRIPTION:This is an ADVENTURE RUN folks\, the ‘adventure’ part means you can’t run all of this course. The serious stuff on this course is off track. There may be some sheep tracks but you’ll be following bright orange/red wide trail marking tape – there will be plenty so no reason to get lost. \n\n\n\nMost of the ‘gentler’ sections are following high country 4WD tracks\, these are still mostly quite technical to run and there could easily be snow across sections of them. \n\n\n\nMAKE SURE your shoes have good grip on them. DESCRIPTION:Complete one 6.7km lap within an hour… \n\n\n\nRestart again on the hour… \n\n\n\nContinue… \n\n\n\nUntil only one person is left to complete a lap \n\n\n\nA Backyard Ultra is a type of ultramarathon where participants run laps of a set course of 6.706 metres (4.167 miles) and they must finish each loop in less than an hour. The race restarts each hour with all those that finished the previous lap on time. The race is over when only one runner remains to complete a lap. This runner is marked as the winner and only finisher\, with all other runners receiving a DNF (Did Not Finish). The strange distance is because the distance for 24 laps is equal to 100 miles.

DESCRIPTION:There is an endless and ever-changing network of trails in this pine plantation forest. Once again we can expect Riverhead to have a sufficient amount of glorious mud and clay! For the most part\, this course is on a clay surface except for the metaled road sections. We recommend wearing shoes with sufficient tread or pairing up with a buddy at the start or out on course for some of the slippery and steeper parts. It’s not by any means scary but it sometimes helps runners and walkers\, especially those new to the trails to have someone close by to lend a hand.

TTM is all about hard hills\, high-fives\, and doing something stupid for the sake of it. There are no prizes. Your workmates will not understand why you did this. It’s not even that fun. \nTip Track Marathon is an out-and-back\, out-and-back\, out-and-back\, out-and-back\, out-and-back\, out-and-back type course that has proven popular with participants. Each of the six laps is slightly over 7km\, with around 400m in elevation (2500m in total). Try not to trip on a loose rock while taking in the aromatic smells emanating from the tip and ignore the gale-force northerly. \nFor those who hate themselves but not enough to do the marathon\, there is also the Te Kopahou Thousand (TKT) race. The TKT is a horrible yet picturesque trot involving the Tip Track\, Spooky Gully\, Waipapa Loop and Hawkins Hill.
