DESCRIPTION:The Riverhead Backyard ReLaps Ultra \n\n\n\nWho will be New Zealands’ Last Person Standing?\n\n\n\nComplete one 6.7km lap within an hour\, restart again on the hour….continue…until only one person is left to complete a lap.\n\n\n\nA Backyard Ultra is a type of ultramarathon where participants run laps of a set course of 6.706 metres (4.167 miles) and they must finish each loop in less than an hour. The race restarts each hour with all those that finished the previous lap on time.  The race is over when only one runner remains to complete a lap. This runner is marked as the winner and only finisher\, with all other runners receiving a DNF (Did Not Finish). The strange distance is because the distance for 24 laps is equal to 100 miles.

DESCRIPTION:Paraiti Catchment Care Group’s Flight of the Kōkako Trail Run on 28 March 2026 is an adventurous off road run in the Te Ranga district of Te Puke. \n\n\n\nWith distances of 5km\, 10km\, 16km and 21km\, there is something for everyone. The course traces the path of the Kōkako through native forest\, creek beds and beautiful farmland not usually accessible to the public. \n\n\n\nAll profits will be dedicated to enhancing and expanding the trapping network\, as well as planting native trees throughout the catchment\, with the goal of establishing a corridor that connects the two kōkako populations of Kaharoa and Otanewainuku. \n\n\n\nParticipants in the race will each have a native tree planted in their honour.

DESCRIPTION:This run is limited to 600 participants on the day. This Ultra caters for the beginner through to the Elite Ultra Athlete looking to do their fastest time. The Trail is a Grade 2 Mountain Bike Ride and does give some good uphill climbs\, with the finish a good downhill to the seafront finish in Hokitika\, total elevation is around 720m for the 100km run. “This is based off competitors records of 2021”.4 Fantastic Runs on the West Coast Wilderness Trail\, the 100km and 54km can be done as a Team of 2 or Individual. SUMMARY:Best Dam Backyard Ultra
DESCRIPTION:The Best Dam Backyard Ultra starting on 9 May 2026 is a last one standing event based at Otematata Wetlands in Canterbury. \n\n\n\nA Backyard Ultra is a form of ultramarathon race where competitors must consecutively run a 6.7km course in less than one hour\, every hour. If a runner does not finish a lap within the hour they DNF (Did Not Finish). The race finishes when one person completes one more lap than anyone else. \n\n\n\nThe course is on well marked trails with minimal elevation gain and scenic views of wetlands\, Lake Aviemore and mountains. It is the same as the day loop used by the NZ team in the 2024 World Team Championship.
