Taking you to the highest point in the region\, it offers a taste of almost every type of running from native bush tracks\, private farm lands and hidden coastal beaches with views over Porirua\, Mana Island and Cook Strait. \n\n\n\nIt starts from HQ and runs through Porirua Scenic Reserve and over Colonial Knob into private farmland on Pikarere Station. This is the only time you’ll ever get to run on this hidden gem\, with the route taking a trot along the wild west coast before climbing back over the historic Takapuwahia skyline to finish back at HQ. \n\n\n\nWith almost 900m of climbing this run is as challenging as it is spectacular. SUMMARY:Remutaka Rail Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:This is a fun run & walk on the Remutaka Rail Trail through the Remutaka Ranges. We start at 254m above sea level and cruise up a shallow gradient (<1 in 40) all the way to the turn around near the summit. This is a scenic and historic route that is a jewel in the Wellington region. The steep\, bush clad valley\, the river below\, tunnels\, bridges and plenty of sweaty people make for a great morning out. This course can easily be negotiated by any modestly fit person. All distances are predominantly on hard packed gravel track.
