The trail twists up and down steep coastal hills and along beautiful Otarawairere and Ohope Beaches\, through stunning bush and up and down hundreds of steps.Until the last dash to the finish line\, Toi’s remains unrelentingly hilly. We guarantee it will challenge you. But the inspirational signs and great camaraderie with other participants\, plus the juicy punnet of strawberries you’ll get at the finish thanks to Julians Berry Farm and Cafe\, should help keep you going.

But how about doing it every hour\, on the hour … again and again … until there was no one left to run with? This is the Mighty Totara Backyard Ultra. If you’ve never heard of a “Backyard Ultra” before … prepare to be captivated by this fantastic new race format. All participants – starting together – have up to one hour to complete a 6.7km loop. If they complete it in time\, they rest\, recover\, then line up ready to do it again on the next hour. Over and over again.
